Seriously cool wedding venues in Somerset and the South West - from a Bristol Wedding Photographer

I’ve chosen all of these venues to share with you because they’re a photographer’s dream, and my couples have loved them too.

Kin House, Chippenham
Only recently restored and opened for private hire, Georgian manor Kin House has an abundance of stunning spaces, and a choice of spaces to say your vows from the original Hearth Room to an arbour in their walled garden. The thoughtful decor at Kin House is beautiful, so you know the backdrop for your wedding day will be flawless.
Your wedding photos at Kin House could feature a golden hour wander through the woodland grounds as well as striking portraits at the art deco bar, and with freestanding baths in the bedrooms of the on-site accommodation AND a dedicated dressing room and on-site barbers, we could have some real fun with your prep photos too.
Kin House has me captivated, and I’m manifesting photographing a wedding there in 2024/2025 🤞🏻
Capacity: Weddings at Kin House can cater to up to 200 guests
Accommodation: 12 rooms on-site
Favourite features: A whole wing dedicated to partying, including a curtained stage
The Mount Without, Bristol
I don’t think I’ll ever be tired of shooting weddings at The Mount Without, one of my favourite Bristol wedding venues. The Mount Without is a restored church on St Michael’s Hill in the heart of Bristol. The building was deconsecrated since 1999, meaning you are free to have a celebrant-led wedding that’s totally true to the two of you.
The stunning history and interiors of this 900 year old setting make The Mount Without perfect for modern Bristol weddings with a timeless, ethereal vibe whether you choose to use the Crypt, the Mezzanine or even the gardens.
If you’re struggling to choose between classic couple’s portraits or modern city vibes, you can absolutely have both with a Mount Without wedding; the centre of Bristol is only a short walk away meaning we can wander around and capture some candids in the city (see Anna & Jack’s wedding here).
Capacity: 200 for ceremony and dinner (300 standing)
Accommodation: None on site, but you’re spoiled for choice nearby
Favourite features: Being in an iconic church but with none of the religious ties, and the freedom to make it your own!
Old Gore by Yard Space, Cirencester
If you head out into the countryside, just north of Cirencester you will find Old Gore, a stunning Cotswolds barn for weddings and events decked out with modern, stylish touches.
If you’re considering an autumnal wedding but don’t want to commit to being cooped up indoors all day, Old Gore could be your perfect Cotswolds wedding venue. Old Gore is licensed for registrar weddings in two spaces, and you’ll have the run of the grounds including an enoooormous covered area with a showstopper fire pit. Plus, you’re as good as guaranteed gorgeous golden hour photos at the Old Gore.
You might be worried about the catering situation in an old stony barn, but this venue has it covered with stunning, modern menus that your guests will remember; there’s no beige buffets here! I’d only suggest looking at the food photos on the Old Gore website if you’re not hungry.
*Yardspace are also opening a second venue called Ivy Lodge in 2025, and it looks equally incredible. Keep your eyes peeled!
Capacity: 150 for ceremony and dinner (more evening guests welcome)
Accommodation: Sister hotel The Stump has 10 bedrooms (one mile away)
Favourite feature: Undercover outdoor space because, ya know… England, also the option to hire little extras through them.
Crumplebury, Worcester
I shot a wedding at Crumplebury for the first time in 2023, and I am desperate to go back! It feels like every inch of this Worcester wedding venue has been precisely designed, with the space feeling fully immersed in nature whilst being modern and luxurious. Summer couples can even get married in the Worcester woodland that surrounds Crumplebury with a ceremony in Longfield Wood, followed by an al-fresco wedding banquet in a field.
If you’re after a feast, the team at Crumplebury never miss with food that’s not just delicious but gorgeous to photograph, too - and that can’t always be said for wedding catering.
The amazing modern features, mixed with it open spaces make it perfect for mingling and capturing those all-important candids while giving you an uncluttered, alternative backdrop for your wedding!
Capacity: 200 for ceremonies, 180 for dinner
Accommodation: Sleep 22 with the “Crumplebury takeover”
Favourite feature: The food, oh my gosh, the food. Have I mentioned the food?
Llantilio House, Monmouthshire
Only recently rejuvenated by owners Lottie & George with sustainability in mind, a wedding at Llantilio House makes for an incredible & really unique venue and offers so much space & greenery for miles! As well as the lovingly restored barn you have a choice of other options to say you “i dos”, including the Calf Shed or at any of the stunning outdoor spots, or if you decide to have a church wedding theres one less than a mile away… pretty handy right!?
After you get married at Llantilio you can kick back and enjoy yourself throughout the property knowing that wherever you end up the backdrop is going the be flawless. You’ll have plenty of space to mingle and an abundance of caterers to choose from to dish up the most delicious food possible.
And I’ve saved the best bit for last, have you SEEN the pool?? I love that pool party vibe at the end of the night, and on a hot summers day it’s gonna be screaming your name. *have i mentioned i’m dying to capture this venue 😂
Capacity: Can cater to up to 120 guests during the day, and 200 in the evening
Accommodation: loads of different accommodation options on site. 20 + camping.
Favourite features: It’s gotta be the POOL! It’s just calling to be jumped in at the end of the night!
When it comes to you choosing your venue, I’d suggest sitting down as a couple and writing out what’s most important to each of you to ensure you’re on the same page; it might be the location, catering or permission to party into the night!
