What is Charlie Britz Photography up to in 2023!?

Woahhhhh! What a year 2022 was, the busiest year yet & one filled with amazing couples, awesome venues & epic dancefloors! The door has barely closed and I’m already looking to the year ahead & all the amazing things it has in store of me & my business.

If you’re here reading this you may already be booked in as one of my 2023 couples, or you may even be looking to book a photographer for your 2023 or 2024 wedding or elopement… hopefully I can give you a little insight into what’s in store for this year, give you some inspiration for your big day & get you excited for the year to come ❤️‍🔥

My amazing couples (I’d say clients but they’re much more than that) are what have always inspired my love for photographing weddings & are the whole reason I do this. I love being welcomed into their lives & be a part of their wedding days, the amount of love & energy I put into my galleries is down to how honoured I feel being able to do this job with such amazing people.

So my first point of this blog is to thank everyone who I met last year - the couples who chose me to capture their INSANE wedding days; the incredible vendors who absolutely smashed the assignment & pulled out some of the best weddings I’ve ever seen; and the people in the background always support me. Big love to you all! 🤍

Where’s Charlie off to in 2023??

A bit like a game of Where’s Wally, but more exciting because there’s weddings and dance floors awaiting!

2023 I already know is going to be full to bursting with venues that are already blowing my mind. Some I’ve worked at before, others are new to my portfolio but that I’ve admired from the sidelines. Wanna see where I’m off too?

Bath Guildhall || Bath

The Mount Without || Bristol

Temple of Minerva || Bath

Primrose Hill Farm || Oxfordshire

Court Farm || Frome

Pennard House || Somerset

Gathering Barn || Wiltshire

Roman Baths || Bath

The Orangery || Yorkshire

…to name just a few!

Not got round to booking your venue for 2023/2024? I’ve got some bucket list venues I’ve had my eye on for a while…

The Giraffe Shed || Wales

Kin House || Wiltshire

100 Barrington || London

Kew Gardens || London

Paintworks || Bristol

or if you fancy tucking me in your luggage to Australia, my ultimate vibe is…

Rebel Rebel Wedding Chapel || Perth, Australia

… just here manifesting! Plus my Nan was an Ozzie so it’s in my bloody right!?

Got any goals for 2023?

…asked no one.

I don’t buy into resolutions just because it’s a fresh year, I do however constantly set myself goals & they tend to evolve throughout the year. The year ahead is already shaping up to be incredible with travels all around the country planned for weddings and a personal trip to South Africa in the not-too-distant-future, as well as some incredible days in the Cotswolds & Brighton in the name of education & bettering my business.

My main goal never really changes - to be able to serve my couples in the best way possible that makes their day stress-free & gives them bangin photos to cherish for a lifetime ❤️‍🔥

This year that involves eduction in the form of learning from some of the best in the business at Thrive, emotion-led photography tips from Ellen Sear, and updating the information I put out there to help my couples on their journey before & after their weddings.

I’ll be limiting my weddings to around 20 in 2023 to make sure I can give every wedding all the energy & attention they deserve, while I’m sat here writing this I only have 5 spaces left for this year 😱 I’ll just leave this sneaky button here in case you want to contact me now to fill one of those spaces with your epic day

Things from 2022 that I hope to see more of in 2023/24…

It’s no secret that I’m an advocate for breaking the rules & having a wedding or elopement that is totally about doing it your own way! Don’t want a cake? Then don’t. Want a more personal ceremony? I highly recommend hiring a celebrant! Wanna do a champange tower then have a pool party to round off the celebrations? Yes please, under one condition… that I’m there to photograph it!!

Last year I noticed more couples having a legal ceremony then having their reception somewhere way less traditional, for example a skate park (see Becca & Lukes reception back in Oct 22) or their favourite city restaurant. For the couples who’ve done this it has been mega and really fitted in with their personalities - wanting something less rigid & more relaxed.

I also noticed that micro weddings are sticking around, something I’m totally on board with. As someone who only had 45 guests at my own destination wedding, I can empathise when people want a more intimate day with just their inner circle. Micro weddings are perfect for those who want to celebrate in style with just the people who know you best (see Frida & Min’s Bristol city micro wedding) - not your 27 cousins you never see or your parents neighbours. It usually gives you the freedom of choosing exactly where & when you want to tie the knot as you’re not restricted by space.

On the flip side I’ve already noticed bigger weddings returning, with the average of my All-Dayer packages covering 115 guests but with some weddings going up to 150 this year. “Not huge” you might think, but last year the average was just 75 guest with the biggest guestlist being only 120 in total probably due to things still seeming a bit uncertain at the beginning of 2022. Bigger weddings mean more people, and more people bring more love, energy & laughter - being in a room full of people who are there to share in your wedding is quite incredible, there’s no other life event quite like it. And with more guests comes one of my favourite parts of the day… an EPIC dance floor! I’ve been witness to some incredible dance floors in the last year and some quite frankly shocking dance moves 😂 and I can’t wait to get stuck in again this year!

My round up for 2023

So the year ahead is looking peachy, my first wedding of the year is mere days away & I feel refreshed (and very full of cheese) after the christmas break.

I have my own version of trend predictions, from what my couples have already told me about their days I’m expecting to see a lot more of these things this year -

  • Bright florals

  • Outfit changes

  • Statement shoes & accessories

  • Grooms going less traditional

  • going BIG on confetti moments

  • Alternative bridal outfits

  • and of course even more dancefloor antics

Happy 2023 to all of you, I hope to meet you soon with your own incredible wedding. Until then, have a good’en!!

Love,

Charlie x
